Every once in a while, I find it necessary to take some time for myself. It doesn’t necessarily mean a spa day, or anything overindulgent. Sometimes, it just means taking 30 minutes out of your morning to do something just for you.
For me, it’s getting outdoors and enjoying nature. Now don’t get me wrong, most of my day is spent outdoors doing portraits or shooting weddings. But I find that I need time to myself where I have no distractions, and I can just let myself go and enjoy my surroundings.
The other thing I try to do is leave all of my camera gear at my studio. When I go for these walks, I only take my phone with me. I find that it’s much easier for me to get in the moment when I have less equipment to worry about. It forces me to think outside the box, and really get creative about my shots.
So I encourage you to take some time for yourself. Not for anyone else, just for you. Think of it as taking time to invest in your self emotionally, creatively, and spiritually. You’ll find yourself more refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day.
