Engagement Portraits: Torie + Daniel

Engagement Portraits: The definition of variety

Engagement Portraits Austin | Dustin Meyer Photography

Whenever I get to work with previous clients, I realize just how lucky I am to have a job I love. Torie came to us for her senior portraits years ago. So when I got the call to shoot their engagement portraits, I was ecstatic. Seeing familiar faces, as well as the trust conveyed by returning clients, always kindles a warm feeling in my heart.

With the wedding in Houston right around the corner, Torie and Daniel wanted to revisit the law school at the University of Texas where they first met. Watching the two of them walk around, remembering the early days of their relationship, was a wonderful sight to witness, as well as capture with my camera.

Seeing familiar faces, as well as the trust conveyed by returning clients, always kindles a warm feeling in my heart.

From one location to another, we walked around, heading to places familiar to them. Seeing their expressions of happiness and love put a wide smile on my face as they talked about the early days of their meeting. The variety of places and outfits included in their engagement portraits session was just a mere reflection of the beautifully complex and intricate relationship, forming the golden thread that bind loved ones together. Their bright smiles pertaining to their first encounter, the unrestrained laughter as they recounted their awkward inside jokes, all of the telltale signs of a strong and growing bond between the enamored couple was a wonderful event to document in photographs.

I've always considered taking pictures to be the bonus of my job. It's my favorite part of the job, more than editing photos, more than designing albums. Watching couples interact with one another as they recount the moments that brought them together, and getting the photos that capture those precious moments; it's as gorgeous and electric as the phenomenon of watching heat lighting during a late summer evening.

As I've already mentioned, the best part of my job is getting the privilege to see beautiful moments such as these every day.

Torie and Daniel, I can't thank you enough for allowing me to tag along and photograph your engagement portraits. And I wish you both the most beautiful and wonderful wedding day imaginable.
